Project Array models include the 1400 Array, 1000 Array and 800 Array floorstanding and bookshelf loudspeakers; the 880 Array center channel loudspeaker; and the 1500 Array powered subwoofer with built-in 1000-watt amplifier.
To achieve its superlative performance, the 800 Array loudspeaker features newly designed Bi-Radial®-horn compression drivers mounted vertically in a freestanding configuration. This design eliminates enclosure diffraction effects to provide precise, ultra-stable imaging, along with a wider, deeper, more three-dimensional soundstage.
Available in Gloss Wood Grain Finish.
JBL engineers have designed the 880 Array for serious audio output. We recommend that you power it with a separate, 200-watt amplifier, whether you are using the speaker as a stand-alone unit or as part of a stereo/surround-sound system.
The 880 Array’s non-bleached, non-colored, white pure-pulp cones ensure a natural, low-distortion sound, while the speaker’s rubber surround reduces resonances for enhanced durability, and a low-distortion magnetic circuit improves bass accuracy.
The 3-inch (75-millimeter) aluminum compression driver in the 880 Array produces flat response with low distortion and dynamic performance at high listening levels. This driver will make the midrange tones, which include the vocals, come across loud and clear.
The 880 Array’s 1-inch (25-millimeter), pure-titanium compression driver produces realistic dynamics far beyond the range of human hearing, with ultrasmooth response that is ideal for playing high-resolution audio. The speaker’s high-frequency sounds reach the listener’s ear as if he or she were present when they were recorded.
We constructed the 880 Array’s trapezoidal low-frequency internal enclosure of heavily braced 1-inch (25-millimeter) and 1-1/2-inch (38-millimeter) medium-density fiberboard (MDF). A raised-top cavity minimizes diffraction from the speaker’s exposed high-frequency horn. And brass spikes couple the external enclosure to the floor. JBL speakers are known for their rugged construction, and Project Array is no exception.
With a frequency response of 70Hz – 40kHz, the 880 Array’s sound reproduction is extremely smooth and extended in every direction. The system’s directivity and power response are highly uniform, its harmonic distortion is reduced to inaudible levels, and its dynamic linearity is unparalleled.
JBL loudspeakers have been the choice of music and movie professionals for more than 60 years; they are behind the screens of more than 50 percent of all movie theaters and hang in concert venues everywhere. Many of your favorite songs and movie soundtracks were mixed or mastered on JBL studio monitors. But you do not have to be a recording-industry pro to bring JBL sound home. Our systems use technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques developed for professional speakers.
