150-watt, dual 5" (130mm), center-channel speaker designed for performance.
To enjoy movies and music to the fullest, you need a speaker system that delivers every sonic nuance. To meet this need, JBL® engineers have designed the EC25 center-channel speaker – a great addition to any home theater, whether you’re using the speaker alone or adding it to a surround-sound suite. It features dual 5-inch (130-millimeter) PolyPlas™ woofers and a 3/4-inch (19-millimeter) titanium-laminate tweeter for clarity and realism, plus Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal™ waveguide technology to direct sounds toward your ears. And with its elegant, black-ash cabinet, the EC25 will make a statement in both style and sound.
JBL engineers have designed the EC25 for serious audio output. We recommend that you power it with a separate 150-watt amplifier, whether you are using the speaker as a stand-alone unit or as part of a stereo/surround-sound system.
The EC25’s low-frequency driver produces uniform pistonic motion and effortless, high-impact bass. Premium components such as PolyPlas coating on the driver and a HeatScape™ motor structure give you low distortion, few internal resonances and the freedom to play loud and long.
Titanium is light but strong – an ideal material for high-frequency speakers. The EC25 speaker’s extremely thin but rigid titanium-laminate tweeter delivers accurate, undistorted high-frequency response, even when the volume is way up. The result is full, clear, tight reproduction of high frequencies.
High-frequency and ultrahigh-frequency sounds are directional – they don’t spread out very widely, and they reach only a narrow range of the people in any room. But the proprietary Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide in the EC25 speaker widens the sound’s range to fill the entire room. You’ll get ideally balanced music, crisp dialogue and smooth audio distribution throughout the listening space. As a result, every seat will be the best seat in your home theater.
The EC25’s IsoPower™ baffle design rigidly affixes the drivers to an extremely dense, non-resonant baffle. It allows the drivers to generate maximum air movement and energy, while minimizing energy loss.
Heat can distort a speaker’s sound and lowerits output and power handling. Fortunately, the EC25 includes our proprietary HeatScape motor structure, which removes heat. As a result, it operates efficiently and reproduces sound accurately.
The ideal path from input to components to transducers is a straight line. The EC25 takes the shortest path possible, thanks to its Straight-Line Signal Path™ design. As a result, the speaker preserves the clarity, detail and dynamics of any audio content that it plays.
The magnets in many speakers can interfere with video reception, but not the magnets in the EC25. We’ve shielded them to prevent interference. You get not only a clear TV picture but also installation flexibility, since you can place the speakers as close to your screen as you want.
JBL loudspeakers have been the choice of music and movie professionals for more than 60 years; they are behind the screens of more than 50 percent of all movie theaters and hang in concert venues everywhere. Many of your favorite songs and movie soundtracks were mixed or mastered on JBL studio monitors. But you don’t have to be a recording-industry pro to bring JBL sound home. Our home systems use technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques developed for professional speakers.
