Yes, after approximately 10 minutes of no activity and no audio, the unit goes into sleep mode. It must be awakened with the ON/OFF Button. The display will timeout and switch off automatically after 30 seconds if no buttons are pressed to preserve battery life, but pressing any button will wake the display again. It is not possible to change or switch off the automatic display timeout.
